Perceptive Pixel Multitouch Screen (video)
We’re really moving forward in interface technologies, funny to think that only a few years ago all we had were tube screens. This video is probably one of the best demos of touchscreens I’ve seen. It’s the work of Perceptive Pixel, and you can see how far they’ve come by comparing this video to their older demo I found about a year back. Apparently, Apple owns the patent (same as the iPhone multitouch patent, I believe). Brings a whole new meaning to the rumors that they’re working on a tablet PC.
I particularly like the various menus they use in this video, and the presentation of webpages and links while they’re surfing (I think that’s what they’re doing). One thing bothers me though, they’re standing so damn close to the screen! It’d seem to me that you could only work on a screen like that for a few minutes at a time without straining the eyes. I’d think a camera recognizing gestures from two or three meters away might be a better solution for such a large screen (generally speaking).

The problem with touch screens is that you’d have to be cleaning them every 5 minutes.

I don’t care about the price, I want to know where I can get one!
