So It’s Just One Human [April Fool's 2008]

Just a quick notice to those who only read the feeds and not the comments. Last entry was posted on April 1st. And to those who read it and believed it, I hope you forgive me and that you’re comforted by laughter in this last tiny part of the joke — the text hidden in the HTML code, right beneath my signature:

  1. Hi, Hrafn!

It would be a little difficult to a bot to login into a gmail account, take google alerts informations, then login into your website account, edit the text according to your writing manner, and, finally, posting it. I imagine all the hyperlink jungle such a bot would need to overcome in order to accomplish its task. Sure… difficult does not mean impossible – see the Google Bot for instance. But it would be a heavy amount of hardness – maybe the word “hardness” is not well suited. I guess that “labourious” is more appropriated. :)

By the way, you should check this finding out:

Upon the bot’s human level text composing ability, a nice story may be found here:

Have you already known the story of Mark V. Shaney? :)

See You!!… and sorry for the “personal marketing” of my website :)

Well, the bot could be fed mail pretty easily. Once the Alert Links are in its possession, fetching data could then be made easy if the pages in question offer an RSS feed. In which case it would only be a matter of reading XML to identify the body of the text. Similarly, it would be easy to post to the blog as WordPress has a built-in option to “post by email” :)

The real problem would be paraphrasing the articles in a manner that makes sense. In other words, the common sense & NLP is the main obstacle. Especially if it had to mimic my writing style! :)

    Thanks for the links!
