Leaving for Two Weeks on Vacation!

Yummy swimming pool at the Canary IslandsTomorrow I’ll be taking my first vacation in two years! Me and my girlfriend are headed for the lovely beaches of the Canary Islands for two weeks, where I plan to surf, go scubadiving and get some Sun on my skin (whose usual dose of light is limited to LCD glow)!

But Think Artificial won’t be dead in the meantime. I’ve written up a 2 part article which will be automatically published while I’m away!

Thinking Blogger Award

I was recently given the Thinking Blogger Award, but work has been keeping me too busy to write en entry on it. Chip of Chip’s Quips named me for the award — which has been making its round memetically for some time now on the blogosphere. The award is given by bloggers to their peers that make them think. I’m very happy to hear I’m inciting thought and give my humble thanks to Chip for the award.

Think Artificial is One Month Old

Today marks Think Artificial’s one month existential anniversary!

I wanted to take the time to humbly thank everyone for the great response I’ve received so far — your comments and mail always make my day and are great motivators to keep writing regularly.

Think Artificial YouTube Channel

I just put together a YouTube Think Artificial Channel as an experiment. For those unfamiliar Channels, they are a user’s collection of videos (neatly categorized) that others can view and subscribe to. Up until this point I hadn’t used YouTube channels, but seeing as I often post YouTube videos, I thought it might as well be good to actually keep a collection of them all in one place — along with the various videos I like but don’t get around blogging about.

THINKARTIFICIAL.ORG Has Launched!

WELCOME!

It’s almost exactly a month now since I made the decision to take my blog to the next level by purchasing a domain and move to a new host. It’s with great pleasure that I unveil the fruit of my labor, Think Artificial — a very appropriate name on so many levels.

What is Think Artificial?

Think Artificial's Artificial BrainThink Artificial is a venue for sharing my interests, news and issues related to artificial intelligence, robotics, technology and intelligence in general. Of course, natural and artificial intelligence are related to a heap of cool technologies — so the content on Think Artificial can be quite diverse. Read more on the About page

New Blog Inching Along

The new blog project is moving along quite well, albeit slowly. I’m happy to announce that I think I’ve finally managed to pin down a domain name, which I’ll be revealing soon enough. I say finally because I had to first go through the frustrating phase of discovering that most of my ideas were already taken, the second phase was actually deciding one from the final 5 great names I’d narrowed it down to.

I’ve also been taking my sweet time evaluating the dozens of recommended hosting services out there — many of which get such similar reviews that it’s very hard to choose between them. But it looks like I’ll be going for Network Redux. They have very good pricing, just-enough-disk-space and their customer support staff has been, by far, the nicest and most helpful compared to other hosts I’ve been in contact with. They also offer a lot of one-click-install features, which suits my schedule quite nicely.

I’m pretty excited over this and really can’t wait to open. My plans involve a lot of improvements, a noteworthy evolutionary step, which I’m sure will be appreciated by others than myself.

The Shape of Things to Come

The new blog project is slowly taking shape. Bluehost seems a very likely candidate for hosting, and Wordpress for content management. Remarkably, even with a new domain name, storage space that dwarfs Typepad’s and a myriad of other nifty (and necessary!) options — I’d still be paying less than for Inkblot Earth’s Typepad Pro account. I Wonder why I haven’t heard of Bluehost until now — apparently it’s popular amongst Wordpress users.

Inkblot Earth Evolution

Inkblot Earth has now been active and online for nearly 6 months. In that time, I’ve written 162 posts and had 204 comments — my thanks to everyone so far, it’s always encouraging and fun when people take an interest.

I began blogging for several reasons and had no intention to make Inkblot Earth a specific type of blog. Sure, I knew from the start that it would be science, technology and aesthetically oriented — but beyond that I made no effort to stick to a certain domain of topic. As such, Inkblot Earth has remained somewhat of a sandbox of various things I’ve found interesting.
