Useful Suicide Bombers? Robots that save the Earth!
Like I (sometimes fanatically) advertise: Robots have such a potential for aiding humanity.
A recent article discusses suicidal robots and asteroids. According to the article, NASA has a list of around 800 asteroids considered a potential threat to the Earth. The idea is to build robots that can (amongst other things) blow themselves up on the surfaces of these asteroids. Robot probes that are still active could then listen for seismic waves caused by the explosion and provide us (humans) with a better idea of the asteroids strength and structure.
