The Ra Desk Lamp by Ettore Cimini

The Ra desk lamp is not your average desk lamp in terms of visual value. The artificial vertebrae design rattles loudly on my aesthetic scale.

Created by designer Ettore Cimini, you can get one for about USD$2000. Unfortunately, that’s not within my student budget.

  1. That is really fantastic. It’s priced way out of the realm of possible widespread popularity… I’d buy one for $200 perhaps. That might still be a stretch.

These are probably not mass produced in any way though, so that explains a bit of the cost.

  2. Yeah. The style probably doesn’t have mass appeal and appears to be marketed for visual rarity. That makes me want it even more, unfortunately.

The price is just to sucker people into believing it has more value than it actually does. There’s no way that thing can cost close to $2000 to build, even if its entirely manually made. While it is definitely cool, I think that Mr. Cimini is aiming far too high up the snob scale to sell his product.
Things like this should be more affordable, because its worth it spreading good design.
